Ink wash quick shell/ apple studies- Draw 1

The goals of this project were to work quickly with the ink washes to tap in to the potential of direct response to form, intuition and chance. White wax resist was also incorporated as initial drawn marks that percolated through the washes.

Some images from semester so far. Photos are 2D: self portraits made with carved art gum stamps- with the objectives of value and texture.
Drawing 1: negative space, line weight variation, slow and careful observation of form, dynamic composition. I love teaching!!!

So today is September 1st, the official publication day of my new book 'Paint Lab'. It is somewhat bittersweet as I do not have my parents here with me to celebrate. Yet, I am so thankful and grateful for their unflappable support, humor and boundless love that enabled me to achieve any of it. Thank you Roy and Joanne! Your spirits lie on every page.
